Menacing Pit Bull Led Zimmerman to Get Gun

George Zimmerman’s got Afro-Peruvian roots and was raised in a religious “racially integrated household”.
Zimmerman may have been suspicious of Martin because the thieves he was watching out for were believed to be black teens, notes Reuters. “Let’s talk about the elephant in the room,” said a female neighbor. “I’m black, OK? There were black boys robbing houses in this neighborhood. That’s why George was suspicious of Trayvon Martin.”
Is there a reason that we all seem to be laboring under the assumption a minority cannot hold racist assumptions about other minorities (or minorities in the same group)? Assuming that there actually were black youths robbing the area, is that a reason for him to assume that Trayvon was one of them, pull a gun and shoot him?
