Jamaica celebrates their latest gold medal.

Best part? Right around 1:50 when a man hilariously exclaims:

Oh my God! America just get struck by lightning! And attacked by a beast! And they were bitten by a werewolf! … Oh, so badly!

Basically, we are not human, we dropped from space like Mr Bean. Mr Bean is not a normal guy, he makes jokes. We are not normal guys. We are from space, I am from Mars.

Yohan Blake, Jamaican Sprinter

Quote of the Day

Blake’s commenting on Jamaica’s record breaking performance in today’s 4x100m relay.

In response, Usain Bolt had this to say: ”Yohan is crazy. If he keeps talking like that, someone is going to put him in a straight jacket one day.”

Every one of us ran a hell of a leg, and we won a bronze medal - maybe we don’t have it around our necks, but we know it.

Trinidad’s out there taking a victory lap, but they know they didn’t do it.

Jared Connaughton, veteran runner on the Canadian team, reacting to the disqualification that allowed T&T to walk away with the bronze medal in today’s 4x100m relay.

Connaughton stepped on the inside lane marking during his leg of the race, causing the DQ.

I know they’re hurting, but that’s pretty sour.

Much love to Kershon Walcott for bringing home T&T’s first gold medal since 1976. (and our first medal in a field event ever.) You’re amazing. :)

I watched the team synchronized swimming event this morning, and I spent much of the time marveling that - while they’re busy pulling off complicated formations and making it look easy - they’re not breathing at all.

No matter what anyone says, those ladies are amazing.

The Olympic gold medalist was one target of criticism in a segment that included the dumbest remarks on American exceptionalism yet broadcast.

The Atlantic, weighing in on Gabby Douglas being singled out by a Fox News’ segment on American exceptionalism for lacking patriotism through her clothing choices.

This article is snarky. Well done, Atlantic.

(via reallyfoxnews)

Oooh, it does bring the snark.

(via cognitivedissonance)

There’s no special reason why they’re targeting Gabby for this criticism, right?

Gabby Douglas Hair: Olympian's Mom, Natalie Hawkins, Responds To Daughter's Hair Critics

The fact that Gabby Douglas’ mother is now responding to this nonsense breaks my heart:

How ignorant is it of people to comment on her hair and she still has more competitions to go. Are you trying to ruin her self confidence?,” Hawkins told Fashionista.com. “She has to go out there and feel good about herself, and if she feels good about herself on that floor, who are you to criticize her? What have you done to help contribute to her dream, that you felt it necessary to put it out there so that she could see it.

‘Nuff said.

Olympic Bottle-Tosser Pleads Not Guilty

Did you see when some  idiot threw a bottle onto the track just before Sunday’s 100m race began?

Apparently, it was meant for Usain Bolt and preceded by the taunt: “Oi, you’re not going to win!”

The idiot (allegedly Ashley Gill-Webb) wasn’t only wrong, but he had the unfortunate luck of being seated near to Dutch judo bronze-medal winner Edith Bosch, who ‘escorted’ him out afterwards.
